Autumn to Christmas Blog

Hello everybody ,

So sorry I haven't been keeping you up to date with whats been occurring.

Lots of good stuff has been occuring ,the harvest of our oilseed rape was probably the best we have had ever with our yield being 1.7 tonnes per acre. All the seed was wet because of the wet weather we encountered however it didn't take much drying and we managed to get it all stored away reasonably quickely .The wheat harvest was not as good . Because of all the bad weather the wheat stayed out in the field alot longer than we would have liked and so the yield was very inconsistant , some parts of fields were great and some parts were not so good ,and we ended up with an average of about 3.4 tonnes to the acre.

However once the rain finally dissappeared it left us with a great Autumn and our next crops of both wheat ,barley and oilseed rape went into the ground beautifully, on time with plenty of moisture and warmth. They germinated well as we had plenty of time to prepare the ground with manure going on aswell. No problems with slugs at all this year,an unheard of scenario in this day and age.

The oils and dressings have been joined in our range of goodies by our new sauce called FGS (Beer and Horseradish ) and I have to say it is absolutely fantastic. This can be backed up by the fact that at the Bath Christmas market this year (our 1st year at the market) we sold over 900 bottles of it in 11 days.We had a great time at the market , alot of hard work and long hours but the reception we had and the feedback we got for our products and what we were doing generally ,was fantastic. We met some great people, some old friends and certainly plenty of new friends.we will most certainly be back next year ( hopefully the weather will be a bit kinder to us),which will run I think for 18 days !

Well I hope that if you did buy our products, that the people you bought them for , enjoy eating them as much as we did making them and selling them.

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and peaceful and relaxing New Year

Andy.
