Rapeseed Oil

My Extra Virgin Rapeseed is my pride and joy, and I have spent many a happy hour nurturing it through its cycle of life, before cold pressing it an bottling it on the farm. So the seeds are planted in August, the resilient green shoots appear soon after the fantastically beautiful yellow flowers have bloomed during May, the seeds then mature before we harvest in July. After that we store the little round seed pearls before releasing their golden treasure by cold pressing it and bottling it for you.

If you want to know more about Rapeseed then click here but basically Fussels rapeseed oil is fantastic for lots of reasons. Firstly it is a healthier oil option with half the saturated fats of olive oil, about 10 x and 3 x the levels of the important fatty acids Omega 3 and 6 compared to Olive oil.

Secondly it is a very versatile oil in the kitchen, for it will hold its integrity at higher temperatures than olive oil, so you can successfully use it for everything from dressings to deep frying and all stops along the route....dressings, mayonnaise, baking, light frying, roasting, batter puddings, stir frying...the list goes on. Chefs have been quick to latch onto the joys of cooking with my oil, not just for these reasons, but also because it compliments their cooking and doesn’t over power the flavours they are creating and it adds a richness of colour to it that looks fantastic on the plate.

If I do have a favourite way of using it in my own kitchen, then it has to be roast potatoes! They come out crisp, golden and crunchy....absolutely heavenly and as far as I am concerned you haven’t lived until you try a Fusseled roasty.

So it’s a healthier oil option.....a versatile oil option.......a food friendly oil option.....a ‘local ‘ oil option ...and best of all I make it with love . What more could you ask for in an oil???????
